Audio Repair Engineers
We are looking for experienced freelance or contract audio repair engineers to carry out component-level repairs on vintage analogue and retro digital audio equipment. This opportunity is ideal for self-employed engineers who value flexibility, technical autonomy, and being paid per completed repair rather than on a salary.
About the Work
Our work focuses on vintage and retro audio equipment designed to be repaired, restored, and maintained for long-term use. Unlike modern digital products that are often uneconomical to repair, the equipment we work on is serviceable, rewarding to work on, and built to last.
Scope of Work
Engineers are engaged on a per-repair basis, with a consistent flow of work available depending on availability and turnaround times.
Typical equipment includes:

Valve equipment
Repairs range from preventative solder joint rework and component replacement through to complex fault-finding, servicing, and detailed restoration projects.
Responsibilities

Accurate component-level fault diagnosis

Repair and replacement of analogue electronic components

Functional testing and basic calibration
-
Clear reporting of faults and completed work

Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship and reliability
Experienced & Skills Required

Proven experience repairing vintage analogue and retro digital audio equipment

Strong understanding of audio electronics

Confident using schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic methods

High-quality soldering and rework skills
-
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Competitive per-repair rates where typical earnings are between £100 and £260 + VAT (if applicable)
